Sandro Carocci is the coordinator of the PhD in History and Social Sciences of the University of Roma Tor Vergata. He is member of the Comité scientifique of “Annales. Histoire, Sciences sociales” and of the Editorial Board of the series “The Medieval Countryside”, Brepols publishers; he is one of the editors of the periodical “Storica” (and from 1998 to 2001 also “Mélanges de l’École française de Rome – Moyen Âge”). He has published five books and more than 50 articles in periodicals, collective books and conference proceedings, and has edited six collective volumes. His main fields of research are: 1)The history of the economic and social structure of late medieval cities; 2) The history of Italian aristocracies between the 12th and the 14th centuries; 3) The political and institutional history of the Papal State and of the Papacy (12th-15th centuries); 4) The history of rural lordship; 5) The study of social mobility in the middle ages.
