Isabella Lazzarini graduated from the Scuola Normale Superiore, Pisa : she is associate professor of Medieval History at the University of Molise, Italy (she qualified as full professor in Dec. 2013). Her research interests focus on the political, social and cultural history of Italy from the thirteenth to the fifteenth centuries, with an emphasis to Renaissance diplomacy and the growth of different political languages in documentary sources.

She has been a research fellow at the Ecole Normale Supérieure (Paris), the Warburg Institute (London), the I Tatti centre for Renaissance Studies (Harvard-Florence), All Souls College (Oxford) and invited professor at the University of Durham (Leverhulme visiting professorship), and at the Ecole Nationale des Chartes (Paris). Her main publications include papers, monographs, miscellaneous volumes and the edition of diplomatic sources. Her most recent book, a monograph on Italian diplomacy (Conflict and Communication. Italian Diplomacy in the Renaissance), is forthcoming for Oxford University Press.
